© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 What are the Key Elements of State of the Art Front Panels? Sliding door panels reduce aisle way obstructions 1-1/2 x 16ga frame construction for long term durability 1” round tubing vs rod filler – minimizes occurrence of inter-digital cysts Integrated slots for a variety of species specific feeders. BH, Inc Fronts - Sliding Gate - Lower half = 1” round tube on 3” centers. - Upper half = wire mesh with 2-1/4” opening, welded to rod frame - Mount plates for slide in feeders. - 2 point, gravity fed latch with lock points for snaps. - 2 point latch and sliding rails prevent corners of door from being pushed out by larger animals (swine). Typical -All Hinged gates, not sliding - Round rod fill vs required 1” round tube on 3” centers. - No wire mesh in upper half - No slide in feeder plates. - Does not provide 2 point, gravity fed lock. - corners of gate are not secure in frame. Larger animals (pigs) may push open door at corners. Also, inconsistent with requirements of “The Guide” and Specs for “seal welding”. Door hinges on rod drilled through upper and lower frame cross members. Creates an opening for water, urine and bacteria.

© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 What are the Key Elements of State of the Art Divider Panels? Typical - All Hinged gates, not sliding - Rod fill in upper half, not wire mesh - No folding door handle for operation of transfer door from outside the pen. - Corners of gate are not secure in frame. Larger animals (pigs) may push open door at corners. BH, Inc Dividers Sliding shift doors (vs swing doors) allow operation from the outside of the run, without coming in direct contact with animals. 1-1/2 x 16ga frame construction for long term durability Lower portion of panels filled with colorful and sound dampening composite materials for a quieter facility. Adjustable legs and minimum 18ga floor supports provide additional structure for larger animals.

© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 What are the Key Elements of State of the Art Floor Panels? Pultruded, fiberglass slatted floors have the following advantages over vinyl coated expanded metal products Fiberglass is ½ the weight of expanded metal, reducing the risk of workman’s compensation issues. Flat, slotted surfaces reduce the onset of interdigital cysts in the housed animal Non-corrosive materials improves life time and return on investment. BH, Inc FloorsTypical Floors

© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 Features and Benefits The BH, Inc. Stainless Steel Fixed Installation Large Animal Enclosures are a balance between standard components and custom design. Standard components are used whenever possible for cost savings. Custom designs are used to make the most efficient use of available space and still maintain more than the minimum space required for each animal intended to be housed in them. The enclosures have been designed for maximum durability, safety for the animal occupant and the animal caregiver, and minimal maintenance - both daily cleaning, and long range upkeep. The units meet, or exceed, all requirements of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, Revised 1996, for individually housed dogs and other large animal species, as well as meeting the requirements for housing some species in group housing situations. The animal enclosures are quickly joined together by ¼” SS fasteners inserted through sleeves in the panel components (front panel, side or end [skeleton] panels, back panel and in multiple pen configurations, a divider panel with sliding, full height shift door) into a single run or multiple runs sharing common divider panels.

© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 Side/Divider panels incorporate a light weight, sliding (on ball bearing rollers), full height door (19" wide opening) to allow passage of animals and caregivers between connecting pens. Swing or guillotine styles are also available. The sliding door passage is operated by moving a flat bar connecting rod from outside of the run front and secured in either a closed or open position. Swing or guillotine styles are also available. Side and divider panels are provided with screw type adjustable legs to allow for variations in the slope and levelness of floors. The adjustable legs have 3" diameter stainless steel base plates to prevent gouging of the floor surface with any movement of the units. Various optional features may be provided to enhance the environmental enrichment conditions under which the animals are maintained and to improve animal care and maintenance operations and safety.

© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 Other features and benefits: Exterior Full Height Sliding Shift Doors or Swing Doors have stainless steel 1" round tubes in the lower sections, and wire mesh upper panels. The round tubes are used almost exclusively by BH, Inc to virtually eliminate the development of interdigital cysts in dogs and to provide the added strength that is necessary to withstand the heavy abuse that swine and sheep can apply. The tubes are flattened at each end and TIG welded to the frame members so that the tubes are completely sealed to prevent moisture, vermin, and microorganisms from entering the interior of the tubing. Exterior Full Height Sliding Shift Doors or Swing Doors incorporate feeder slots for slide in dog or pig feeders. Side/Divider Panels utilize quiet, colorful, thermo neutral composite panels in the lower sections. These panels significantly reduce the noise levels as compared with traditional equipment with solid sheet metal panels. The upper sections utilize stainless steel crimped, woven wire mesh.

© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 T-1800 or T-3500, Thermo neutral Fiberglass Floor Sections: The floors are made of an aligned fiber product that will provide the animals with a smooth, flat, thermo neutral surface. This surface is extremely durable and lightweight in comparison to the other products on the market. These lighter weight floor sections can significantly reduce expenses from workman's compensation issues. The 1800 Series material provides 18% open space and is more suitable for small hoofed animals, while the 3500 Series material provides 35% open space and is more suitable for dogs. These products are available with and without a grit coating. The floor sections are supported on 1½" x 1½" x ¼" stainless steel angle supports which are TIG welded to the lower frame members. All hardware components are stainless steel. T-1800, 1” T Bearing Bars spaced 2” on center. T ” T Bearing Bars spaced 2.400” on center

© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 BH, Inc., dog runs may be installed in two fashions: either fixed to the facility walls, or freestanding. Dog runs generally consist of five major components: Front Panels which include either a sliding or swinging personnel door, a feeder slot and optionally, an automatic watering manifold mounting plate. Divider Panels that may include either a sliding or swinging animal shift door. These panels include two adjustable legs and floor support angles. Side Panels that are generally all solid (no doors) also include adjustable legs and floor support angles. Skeleton Panels used in fixed installations only mount to facility side walls, and include a floor support rail, and upright(s) to attach front (and back) panels. Back panels used in freestanding runs, may have optional automatic watering manifold mounting plates Overview

© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 Front Panels Dog run front panels are generally 71” high. They may be of various widths depending on the customer’s kennel square footage requirements and facility layout. Front panels generally consist of a 1-1/2” square tube frame, with 2-1/4” wire mesh upper halves and 1” round tube lower halves. Fronts panels are most easily identified by the full height personnel door (either sliding or hinged) with integrated feeder slot. Front panels will not have adjustable legs. Parts Identification

© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 Divider Panels Dog run divider panels are generally 81” high overall. They may be of various widths depending on the customer’s kennel square footage requirements and facility layout. Divider panels generally consist of a 1-1/2” square tube frame; with 2-1/4” wire mesh upper halves and composite panel lower halves. Divider panels generally include a sliding or hinged animal shift door that can be operated from outside the kennel by a pull bar. Divider panels also include two load bearing legs and two floor support angles at the bottom.

© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 Side Panels Dog run side panels are generally 81” high overall. They may be of various widths depending on the customer’s kennel square footage requirements and facility layout. Side panels generally consist of a 1-1/2” square tube frame; with 2-1/4” wire mesh upper halves and composite panel lower halves. Side panels also include two load-bearing legs and only one floor support angle at the bottom. Side panels are built in either right handed or left handed fashion. The floor support angle always goes to the inside of the kennel. The load bearing leg that is flush to the outside frame identifies the front of the panel. A rear leg may be offset frame the back of the frame to prevent the adjustable foot from being located in a facility drain trough.

© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 Skeleton Panels Dog run skeleton panels are generally consist of two pieces; a floor support member that includes a floor support angle on one side of a square tube, and an upright support tube. The upright support tube has a pre-drilled hole at the bottom and at least two pre-drilled and welded mounting tabs. The floor support has at least two pre-drilled and welded mounting tabs and also has a pre-drilled and welded upright mounting angle.

© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 Back Panels Dog run back panels are generally 71” high. They may be of various widths depending on the customer’s kennel square footage requirements and facility layout. Back panels generally consist of a 1-1/2” square tube frame, with 2-1/4” wire mesh upper halves and 1” round tube lower halves.

© Copyright BH, Inc 2005 Rear Connector Brackets Used for fixed installations only, the rear connector bracket is used to attach side and divider panels to a facility wall that will form the back of the kennel. The real connect is a pre-punched sheet metal angle. After being mounted to the facility wall with appropriate wall anchors (#10 sheet metal screw into plastic or lead anchors or a “drivit”), the bracket is connected to the side/divider panel with two self- tapping #10 Tek screws with bond seal washers. Two rear connector brackets are used for each side/divider panel.
