Pearson & TI-Nspire™ TI-Nspire™ and Pearson Authors working hand-in-hand to develop interactive, dynamic lesson content, Lesson Quiz and Test Prep files. TI-Nspire™ document coverage of content in each lesson for all three textbooks. Co-branded TI-Nspire™ CD included in Teacher Resource offerings. Sample TI-Nspire™ Trial CD with pre-loaded content distributed in Pearson sampaks for A1, Geo and A2. Content development to be completed in Feb 2010; Ready for Back to School 2010. Pearson partnered with TI to create the first fully aligned TI-Nspire High School Mathematics curriculum. TI and Pearson Authors worked together to develop interactive, dynamic lesson content supported by lesson quiz and test prep files. We have co-branded a TI-Nspire CD that is included in the Teacher Resource offerings. A sample of this CD with a 30-day TI-Nspire trial version is included in the Pearson Sampaks. The final content will be complete in Feb 2010 and the CD will be ready for back to school 2010.

Pearson & TI-Nspire™ Texas Instruments and Pearson collaborative benefits: Link between print and digital offerings, with interactivity and exploration found at the core of each lesson with corresponding TI-Nspire™ documents Create unique and differentiated offerings EXCLUSIVE to Pearson’s Prentice Hall Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 ©2011 textbooks Create educator interest around new curriculum because it incorporates cutting edge classroom technology Working along side TI has its benefits! Create a link between the print and the digital with interactivity and exploration on the TI-Nspire. This created a unique and different offering EXCLUSIVE to Pearson. This helps to create teacher interest around our new curriculum because it incorporates cutting edge classroom technology.

Textbook & Digital Content Integration TI-Nspire™ & Pearson’s Prentice Hall Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 ©2011 Textbook & Digital Content Integration Website: http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/nonProductMulti/pubconnect_pearson.html?bid=2 Let me take a moment to show you how this textbook content and the TI-Nspire content align…

Prentice Hall – Algebra 1 Seamless integration of digital content with textbook lessons creates visual reinforcement of concepts. TI-Nspire™ documents allow students to explore concepts by grabbing and moving objects and seeing the consequence as the equation changes. First we start with a seamless integration of the textbook and the TI-Nspire by creating documents that allow students to explore concepts by grabbing and moving them.

Show video of student moving person closer to the lightning and the change in the value of how soon the student will hear the thunder

Prentice Hall – Algebra 1 Seamless integration of digital content with textbook lessons creates visual reinforcement of concepts. TI-Nspire™ documents allow students to explore concepts by grabbing and moving objects and seeing the consequence as the equation changes. Here is another example of a problem where the student is writing a formula for the distance in a specific situation

As you watch this video you see that when the student grabs the corner of the pole – the algebraic expression for the length is shown along side the two sections of the pole providing additional in formation for the formation of the formula.

Prentice Hall – Geometry The TI-Nspire allows for assessment with the use of the TI-Nspire Navigator system. This program contains quizzes and standardized test prep for every lesson. Let’s take a look… Use TI-Nspire™ documents for short quizzes or instant assessment of concepts with TI-Nspire™ Navigator™.

The student is able to view the question and all the answers before registering their final answer for the Navigator system to gather and deliver to the teacher

Prentice Hall – Algebra 2 Interactive TI-Nspire™ documents allow students to visualize concepts through animations. Students can use TI-Nspire™ documents at home for review of concepts as well. Animations allow students to visualize concepts and work through problems in the text. Students can use these documents as review at home as well as in the classroom.

In this example- the ball is bouncing and two consecutive heights are recorded. As the student grabs and drags across the screen – the student views the stepped out solution to the problem

Create an Interactive Classroom with TI-Nspire™ With TI-Nspire™, it’s easy to integrate curriculum, standards and assessment in each lesson. Prentice Hall Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 ©2011 Tools for Instant and Ongoing Assessment Instructional Technology (arrows indicate) use of technology, supplemental curriculum and performing real-time assessment of student understanding can occur at any point throughout class. The ongoing assessment informs the teacher of any needs to adjust instruction.

TI-Nspire™ Family of Technology TI-Nspire Computer Software Teacher Edition Learning Handhelds TI SmartView™ Emulator built-in for presentation with digital projector OR Use with Interactive Whiteboards TI-Nspire or TI-Nspire CAS Computer Software – Teacher Edition TI-Nspire TI-Nspire CAS TI-Nspire technology is made up of learning handhelds, classroom software, and teacher software that provides additional instructional features. Software and handhelds share identical capabilities so work can be be easily transferred from one to the other. Both handhelds are approved on key national and entrance exams as well as many state tests (comment on particular state you are in and note differences for CAS – no ACT or IB) TI-Nspire handhled offers a snap-in TI-84 Plus Keypad allowing side by side use with existing TI-83 Plus and TI-84 Plus handhelds until all students have TI-Nspire. It also comes in EZ Spot yellow for school purchases to deter theft. (may want to point out ViewScreen panel as projection alternative) Talk to Research. Students using TI-Nspire™ handhelds have demonstrated deeper understanding and greater abilities in drawing inferences, with greatest gains by low-achieving students. Classes using TI-Nspire™ technology showed: -increased student autonomy and confidence in determining individual approaches to enquiry and problem solving. -motivation among students by stimulating a natural interest in mathematics. -greater opportunity for students to get immediate feedback and assess their understanding. The design of TI-Nspire™ technology builds on and unites the strong research findings on how effective teaching with graphing calculators can enhance student learning. The ability to see and dynamically link multiple representations, as supported by TI-Nspire™ technology, is shown to be essential in developing conceptual understanding. TI-Nspire™ technology’s ability to save all student work (in documents) enables reflection, formative assessment and continued learning outside of class time – activities shown to increase student learning.
