 Continuous Improvement  Using Data to inform Decision-making  Evaluation and Effectiveness  Validation

Transitioning to Postsecondary Education  Improve transition rate of GED® students to Postsecondary Education  Analyze the effect of Managed Program Pilot project

Did students enrolled in counties that were part of the “managed program pilot” have greater academic gains, higher rates of GED® attainment, higher GED® test scores and were they more likely to transition to postsecondary education?

Strict guidelines for Enrollment, Assessment, and Instruction:  Attendance Policy Requirement  Scheduled Orientation/Intake, Assessment, and Classes  Daily Lesson Plans and Syllabi

 Identified Comparison groups  Collected Data  Analyzed Data  Assimilated Research  Final report phase

 Many different variables  Cause and Effect relationship

Managed Programs:  Show less academic gains/level completions  Higher percentage of GED recipients  Higher GED® scores than those not in the pilot  Higher percentage of GED recipients transitioning to postsecondary

 Lead us to be more cognizant of data analysis and interpretation  Continue research in particular areas involving postsecondary transition  College/Career Readiness

Managed Program elements are now a requirement for all programs:  Scheduled orientation and assessment  Scheduled classes based on student demand  Scheduled education alternatives for students whose work or family obligations do not allow them to attend scheduled classes
