Transportation Tuesday TRANSPORTATION TUESDAY MOST VEHICLES ARE EASIER TO CONTROL WHEN MOVING FORWARD … SO WHY IS IT BETTER TO REVERSE PARK?

Transportation Tuesday parking spaces are usually free of moving objects (but check anyway) BACKING IN IS BETTER PLANNING  saves you time … driving forward out of the space is easier than reversing out of it when loading, your boot (trunk) is in a safe position - away from moving traffic when leaving, it’s safer to drive forward into moving traffic parking spaces are usually free of moving objects (but check anyway)  better personal safety (ladies in particular) … if you are nervous about being followed, then you can make a quicker exit

Transportation Tuesday TOP TIPS FOR REVERSING DRIVER  check there is no-one behind you  use all your mirrors and check over your shoulder  make sure your back window gives you a clear view (e.g. remove those headrests if you don’t have passengers)  in bigger vehicles, ask someone to guide you (but don’t ask them to stand behind you!)  go slow - be ready to react to changes

Transportation Tuesday TOP TIPS FOR REVERSING PEDESTRIANS  don’t walk behind a vehicle that is already moving  don’t assume the driver has seen you  be alert for moving vehicles and machinery  listen out for reversing alarms

Transportation Tuesday Statistics show that nearly a quarter of all deaths involving vehicles at work happen when the vehicle is reversing … USUALLY BECAUSE THE DRIVER OR PEDESTRIAN DID NOT PAY ATTENTION
