ENERGY By Josh Fetterplace

Renewable forms of energy? Some forms of energy are renewable and some are not. Renewable energy is where energy is generated from natural resources that is infinite or constantly renewed. Some examples are: solar, wind and hydropower. Some examples are: solar, wind and hydropower.

Non-renewable Energy Non-renewable energy is energy that cannot be made again in a short time. The four non renewable energy sources most often used are:  oil and petroleum products (including diesel fuel, gasoline & propane)  coal  natural gas  uranium There is another one though, that I’m going to explain about:  biogas

Biogas – a Renewable Energy Source Biogas is a renewable source of energy. It comes from organic waste materials. The production of biogas is carried out in special ‘digesters’ which are widely used in China and India.

Biogas Digester

Why Make Biogas? If you had a digester like the picture shown before it can make you money. Everybody has waste that has to be gotten rid of – if you don’t you could be creating an environmental hazard. For example: - on a farm manure is considered to be a fertilizer not a waste. But if you install a digester to make biogas, you would be eliminating odours and promoting the value of the fertilizing of the manure.

Should I or Shouldn’t I ? Biogas has many potential benefits. It needs time and money to set it up, but the benefits would be long term. I would use biogas if I was a farmer!
