History of Computers Michael Duncan

Ancestors of the computer are:  Abeces  Antikythera  Sky Disk of Nebra Computers of the 40s and 50s were:  The Mark 1  Univac  Enyac Problems with early computers were: That they broke down a lot because they created a lot of heat and these computers were prone to heat, which is a bad combination. The Early Computers

First Australian Computer This was the first Australian computer. It’s operating speed was.001 MHz and it held 2k bytes of RAM.

Advantages of New Generation Computers  Second Generation Computers  They became much faster  They were stronger and held more data  Created less heat so it doesn’t break down as much  It became smaller and much more efficient  Third Generation Computers  They were even faster than the second generation computers  Became more efficient  Uses less power  Has silicon chips which are placed in the computer to help carry out a number of electronic functions  They were the first computers to have computer networks

Personal Computers  The first personal computer was Micro Computers Apple 2  Personal Computers are often referred to as PC’s which were created by IBM  They included VisiCalc, which was the first spreadsheet program  In the 90’s PC users gained access to the World Wide Web.

What Computers Are Used For  Computers today are used for research, entertainment, work, storing information, processing information etc.
