How do YOU effect our Environment and how can WE stop from harming our Earth? Introduction Task Procedure Evaluation Conclusion Teacher’s Page

Introduction Do you know that the every day activities you do have an effect on our environment? Driving a car, using electricity, and leaving the water running while brushing your teeth are ways that WE effect our environment. The environment provides us with many resources such as oxygen, water, food, shelter and warmth that we need to live. Every day that we don’t recycle or stop polluting our air, is another day we harm our Earth. Together we can work together to save the Earth!

Task We will be identifying how WE are affecting our environment. We will learn the different ways that WE can prevent ourselves from harming the Earth. After we have learned about the environment and ways WE can prevent ourselves from harming Earth. In your groups you will create a plan for ways you can personally stop the harm of our Earth.

Procedure Check out these 3 websites about saving our environments and Answer the Following Questions: What Resources do we receive from the Earth? Using the 3 Websites listed below, list the different ways that YOU can help protect and save our environment. List everyday activities that YOU do that are harmful to the environment. Kids’ Health EEK! What Can You Do?

Procedure Using the following website, calculate your ecological footprint and see what effects YOU have on our environment. Be sure to record your score and suggestions the calculator gives you! Foot Print Calculator

Procedure Watch the following video on Garbage and Recycling. Garbage and Recycling Answer the following questions: Where does our garbage go when we throw it out? What are 2 suggestions the video made for ways YOU can help?

Evaluation In your groups, You will now be creating a plan of action for how WE can prevent the harming of our environment. 1 st you will list your everyday activities that are harmful to our environment. Next, write how you plan on changing these activities to make them more environmentally friendly. We will be sharing our plans with the rest of the class.

Grading Scale 3Plan is clearly stated with 3 or more activities listed. Plan is written clear and neat. Learner demonstrates understanding of material. 2Plan is stated with only less than 3 activities listed. Plan is written neat, but not fully clear. Does not show complete understanding of the material. 11 or no activities listed. Plan is not clear or neat, shows little to no understanding of material.

Conclusion Now that you have learned about the different ways in which YOU can harm the environment, you you are fully aware of YOUR impact on the Earth. YOU will now be able to prevent this from happening, along with providing others with the knowledge you now have. Together we can save the Earth!

Teacher’s Page Grade: 4 th Objective: Students will be able to learn the effective ways to use our natural resources by studying different ways to be environmentally friendly. Standard A: Identify how people use natural resources in sustainable and non-sustainable ways.
