The process & timeline Generally two intakes: winter and summer program – during university vacation periods Beginning of August AND members are invited to participate Receive member participation form End of August Members submit participation form & confirm placements September: Student application opens We engage with universities and market your positions Attract suitable candidates October: We meet and brief all applicants. Start screening & job- matching process. Short-listed candidates provided to members for interviewing November Members interviews with shortlisted candidates Offers are made December, January, February Internship period to take place within the summer period. Summer 2013/14 timeline

Expectations What can you expect as a Stepping into intern? Your Student Handbook – 9 Steps of the program What previous interns experienced The work is exactly what I have been yearning for, it wonderfully incorporates and complements my studies and satisfies my interests I have been lucky enough to receive guidance and teaching from each of the lawyers in the practice All of my reasonable adjustments were met and my workload and work schedule were tailored to suit my University commitments. The program has allowed me to apply the knowledge and skills that I have acquired through tertiary education into real life work experience. The work is for the most part stimulating, and it's pretty much a dream job. What employers expect Ask questions Be part of the team Give feedback
