Purpose & Destiny pt. 2  Purpose in the Hebrew means:  Original intent  The original reason why something is created  Why something exist is called it’s purpose  Prov. 19:21-There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel/purpose –that will stand.  God is more interested in His purpose than He is our plans.

Purpose & Destiny pt. 2  Destiny — something to do in this life, something only you can do. Something intended for us.  Before you were born, God wired you with certain ambitions, desires, and drives to play a particular role in history — one that only you can play.  Your life isn't an accident. You have a destiny, one that only you can complete  Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (NLT).

Purpose & Destiny pt. 2  Is it Possible for one to know what their purpose in life is?  Learn to detect the defining moments of your life that will be like signposts to the destiny God has outlined for you.

Purpose & Destiny pt. 2  We talked about in part 1 of this series, some of the unique talents and experiences God has given you to use.  Personal Inventory-What really matters in your life; What brings you a sense of joy and happiness; What energizes you?  What are some of the spiritual aspects in our life that we need to consider?

Purpose & Destiny pt. 2  Before you were born, God gave you a unique mixture of spiritual gifts, passions, abilities, personality, and experiences.  There’s no one like you in the entire universe because, in part, there’s no one with your unique mix of talents.  This is why your destiny is so unique. It’s your destiny. Not your mother’s, not your father’s, not your pastor’s. It’s your destiny.  All the days planned for me were written in your book before I was one day old” (Psalm 139:16 NCV).

Purpose & Destiny pt. 2  Purpose-The original reason something exist  Mission-General Assignment to fulfill the purpose.  Vision-Customizing the mission. Distinctive project to fulfill the mission. (e.g. architects)  God never does anything without purpose.  There is a reason/purpose why each of us are here.

Purpose & Destiny pt. 2  What is your purpose in the Body of Christ (the church)?  How do you help the church to fulfill it’s mission?

Purpose & Destiny pt. 2  The purpose of Abiding Faith is to win souls and glorify God by accomplishing the things written in our mission statement.  Read AFCC Mission Statement  Vision-What’s in place to assist with accomplishing the mission  In general, “when the church has lost it’s soul-winning thrust. It has lost its purpose for existence.”

Purpose & Destiny pt. 2  Lessons from the past are the signposts and defining moments that point to the Future.  Let’s talk about David and somethings he went through as he was learning about his purpose/ his destiny.

Purpose & Destiny pt. 2  Just as each defining moment brought David into a deeper walk with God and added a deeper dimension to his faith, it will do the same for us.  It is from faith to faith that we are led into the destiny that God has prepared for each one of us.

Purpose & Destiny pt. 2  Now lets talk about his son Solomon his purpose and destiny.  What things went wrong.

Purpose & Destiny pt. 2  When Solomon lost sight of God's purpose, the things in his life became worthless and futile.  As a result he became very dissatisfied and discontent with his life.  We must look to God's purpose in all that we do.  We must see the things that we do as God given tasks understanding that God wants us to work out His purpose in our lives no matter what it is we are involved in.  This will keep you from chasing empty rainbows.
