 A 2009 publication by Charles Drew University School of Medicine/UCLA Assessed the 2710 Responses from 36 Medical Schools in the 2004/5 School Year ◦ At Risk Drinking= 18% ◦ Binge Drinking(Monthly basis)=20%  British Medical Journal Studied Alcohol Use/Abuse Among US Medical Student Graduating in 2004 and How Likely They Were to Counsel Patients About Alcohol Use Found Similar Use and Less Counseling with More Drinking

 NCHA to Georgetown Undergraduate Students Every Other Year, and Used Nationally for 10 years  Proposed Study Takes Questions Related to Alcohol and Drug Use and Stress from the NCHA to Make A Targeted Survey  Goals: ◦ To Assess Levels of Medical Student Alcohol and Substance Abuse, and Possible Changes or Differences From Previous Studies ◦ To Differentiate Drinking Patterns Of Medical Students Depending on Year in School
