The Castle

2.Kilkenny Castle We will learn about Kilkenny Castle: ●When, how, and who build our most famous landmark in Kilkenny City. ●Strongbow, William Marshall and the Butlers. ●The knights and soldiers who protected Kilkenny. ●Life in a Medieval Castle.

The Black Abbey

3.Religious Buildings in Kilkenny We will learn about the famous religious buildings in Kilkenny. ●How to build a Medieval stone church. ●The different orders who built them. ●Life in a monastery. ●Different styles of architecture and art.

Groups ●Each of you will be divided in groups of four. ●The name of your team will be picked from a hat in the next class. ●I will be picking the people in each team. The teams are final.

Teamwork It can be a little hard working in a group at first, but soon you will find it much easier to be part of a team and to share your ideas and workload.

How this course will be assessed Good News: There will be no test! Instead we will be working on projects and presentations in our separate teams throughout the short course.

How this course will be assessed ●We will be developing out IT skills by making a PowerPoint Presentation. ●At the end of each topic, every group will teach the class what they have learned over the previous few weeks. ●The presentation will be 10 minutes long.

Class Website ●We will be using a website for many of our class documents and readings. ●You will also be uploading your projects and presentations on to this website. ●It is called ‘Medieval Kilkenny Short Course’. ●It is maintained by me!
