mediafi.org ficontent.eu FI-CONTENT 2 Input Sustainability plans Expected links to the future FIWARE open source community and foundation Relations to Accelerators and Innovation Hubs 2 FIWARE sustainability workshop 19 May 2015 | Brussels

mediafi.org ficontent.eu FI-CONTENT 2 Sustainability Plans FIWARE Media&Content Lab Maximizing the opportunities for sustainable exploitation of Media&Content related enablers, developed by the partners of the FI- Content 2 project, on top of FIWARE Lab Pushing towards Open Software offers Bringing the value of Media&Content related enablers further into the FIWARE catalogue 3 FIWARE sustainability workshop 19 May 2015 | Brussels

mediafi.org ficontent.eu Rationale for FIWARE Media&Content Lab 1.Phase 3 projects need a centralized source of technical and legal information about FIcontent’s Specific Enablers 2.Phase 3 projects need vivid demos of Specific Enablers in order to understand the capabilities of technologies 3.Developers need a place where they can start testing Specific Enablers very quickly and with little barriers 4.Developers need a toolbox for installing and running Specific Enablers with respect to their products 4 FIWARE sustainability workshop 19 May 2015 | Brussels

mediafi.org ficontent.eu Value Proposition of FIWARE Media&Content Lab FIC2Lab is a …portal that showcases demo source code and lets the user ‘play around‘ with it. …browser-based playground that exposes the main use case of each Specific Enabler in at least one example. …creative pool of experimental usages of the Specific Enablers for developers. FIC2Lab is not …a portal that can be used for the creation or maintenance of production-quality applications. 5 FIWARE sustainability workshop 19 May 2015 | Brussels

mediafi.org ficontent.eu Four levels of support in FIWARE Media&Content Lab FIC2Lab addresses the needs of Phase 3 projects and developers by means of four support levels: Discover: Access information Description/Programming guide/Installation guide/Tutorial/Usage videos/T&C How to get support Try: Test live demos of Specific Enablers Demo servers provided by the enabler owners (May use or not use FIC2Lab servers) Tweak: Use our developer playground and access our support portal Real-time try/modify/run loop Run: various SysOp tools for starting and monitoring instances of enablers Layered on top of FIWARE LAB Use of advanced tools for facilitating usage and deployment 6 FIWARE sustainability workshop 19 May 2015 | Brussels

mediafi.org ficontent.eu FIWARE Media&Content lab structure 7 FIC2lab Playground Orchestrates FIWARE LAB servers and GitHub example source code FIWARE LAB (Lannion2) holds server pool a generic services GitHub holds source code and support list Lab.Mediafi.org Developer ressources and links to operational systems. mediafi.org ficontent.eu When will FIWARE Media&Content Lab be available? Due to FIWARE migration release has been postponed from initial End of April date Unfortunately IDM functions used for FIC2Lab have been (temporarily) discontinued Alpha test with Accelerators will start soon Initially a limited number of users (2-3 / accelerator) Increase based on feed back of developpers V1 by end May Ideas are being developed for a V2 Bundles of enablers Increased computing and network resources Improved navigation Improved enabler examples and documentation. 9 Due to discontinuation (or delay in provision) of critical functions of IDM. FIC2Lab runner is currently out of order.

mediafi.org ficontent.eu FI-CONTENT 2 Sustainability Plans – ctd. FIWARE Media&Content Lab Maximizing the opportunities for sustainable exploitation of Media&Content related enablers, developed by the partners of the FI-Content 2 project, on top of FIWARE Lab Pushing towards Open Software offers When Open Software offer not relevant, sound terms & conditions allowing sustainable business development 10 FIWARE sustainability workshop 19 May 2015 | Brussels Social connected TV Smart city services Pervasive games Multi-screen interaction Personalised TV experience User tracking and privacy Contextualisation Live information Live sharing & communication Augmented reality Blending real & virtual worlds Toys, installations & city wide games - 6 M&C Enablers produced - 5 M&C Enablers exposed through FIWARE M&C Lab - 0 released as Open SW - 6 M&C Enablers produced - 5 M&C Enablers exposed through FIWARE M&C Lab - 0 released as Open SW - 10 M&C Enablers produced - 9 M&C Enablers exposed through FIWARE M&C Lab - 7 released as Open SW - 10 M&C Enablers produced - 9 M&C Enablers exposed through FIWARE M&C Lab - 7 released as Open SW - 16 M&C Enablers produced - 12 M&C Enablers exposed through FIWARE M&C Lab - 11 released as Open SW - 16 M&C Enablers produced - 12 M&C Enablers exposed through FIWARE M&C Lab - 11 released as Open SW

mediafi.org ficontent.eu FI-CONTENT 2 Sustainability Plans – ctd. FIWARE Media&Content Lab Maximizing the opportunities for sustainable exploitation of Media&Content related enablers, developed by the partners of the FI-Content 2 project, on top of FIWARE Lab Pushing towards Open Software offers Bringing the value of Media&Content related enablers further into the FIWARE catalogue M&C Enablers planned/proposed to be integrated as functional extensions of FIWARE GEs Under further investigation: integrate more M&C Enablers in the FIWARE Catalogue (as GEs or SEs) Conclusion Major steps completed to ensure sustainability, but Important issues/questions still to be adressed: Sustainability of FIWARE Media&Content Lab beyond project’s end (end Oct. ‘15) How?
