Medical Imaging Technology “Brainstorm” different types

X-Ray Most common for of medical imaging High energy radiation that can penetrate human tissue but not metal or bone Can check for cancer or broken bones Fluoroscopy – continuous beam of X-rays that show movement of organs Radiotherapy – Used to treat cancer by damaging the DNA or cancer cells

Ultra Sound Used high-frequency sound waves to produce image of body tissue and organs Sound ways enter the body and are reflected back Used during pregnancy and to diagnose heart problems

Computer Tomography (CT) Uses X-ray equipment to form a 3-dimensional image by using images taken from several angles of the body Can be used to image bone, soft tissues and blood vessels at the same time

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Uses magnets and radio waves to produce images Useful in imaging structure and function of the brain, heart and life, soft tissue and inside bone Used to diagnose cancer, brain disease, and cardiovascular conditions video.htm video.htm
