Egyptian Government By Rachel and Jessica

Pharaoh The pharaoh was the supreme ruler of Egypt and he owned all of Egypt.

Store houses The government built store houses to hold grain as tax payments. The pharaoh would get some of the grain to feed the hungry Egyptians during a drought.

Government The government included a vizier (prime minister), chief treasurer, tax collector, and army commander.

Upper and Lower Egypt The centralized government broke down in Upper and Lower Egypt during Intermediate periods between Pharaohs.

Pyramid In the 5 th dynasty pyramids began to get smaller and less solid because officials came from people outside the royal family.
