Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network Co-Teaching PLC for Administrators: IU Replication Opportunity July 16, 2015

PaTTAN’s Mission The mission of the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) is to support the efforts and initiatives of the Bureau of Special Education, and to build the capacity of local educational agencies to serve students who receive special education services.

PDE’s Commitment to Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) Our goal for each child is to ensure Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams begin with the general education setting with the use of Supplementary Aids and Services before considering a more restrictive environment.

Co-Teaching PLC for Administrators: IU Replication Opportunity Over the last two years, PaTTAN has developed and delivered a Professional Learning Community structure for school administrators to increase their knowledge and skills about co-teaching. For the school year, we are seeking to identify IU TaCs to replicate this PLC approach to professional development for Administrators from their member school districts.

Co-Teaching PLC for Administrators: IU Replication Opportunity PaTTAN will provide the following to support IUs that replicate the PLC. A complete package of training materials, including presentation slides with detailed trainer notes; supporting materials and facilitator overview; and customizable recruitment flyer Technical supports from PaTTAN, as requested (e.g., more detailed review of content; collaborative facilitation of the PLC session(s) by PaTTAN consultant with IU TaC, etc.)

Co-Teaching PLC for Administrators: IU Replication Opportunity PaTTAN will also provide an optional competitive performance grant for IUs replicating the PLC. The IU has the option to form a consortium with participating PLC members’ sites for the purpose of applying for a competitive mini-grant. The competitive mini-grant awards can be used to offset costs associated with participation in the PLC; but, will require the implementation of a pre-defined action research project.

Co-Teaching PLC for Administrators: IU Replication Opportunity Additional information concerning the competitive performance grant and/or replication of the Co-teaching PLC will be addressed via webinar on August 31, 2015, from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Registration for the webinar is available at:

Co-Teaching PLC for Administrators: IU Replication Opportunity For planning purposes, each IU is asked to provide one response to a brief survey indicating the IU’s preliminary intent to replicate the Co-Teaching PLC. Information provided by the IU in the survey does not constitute a commitment to replicate the PLC. Surveys are to be completed by August 15, 2015.

Co-Teaching PLC for Administrators: IU Replication Opportunity IUs needing additional information are encouraged to view the August 31, 2015 webinar and/or contact Jeannine Brinkley at or (412)
