Can you identify the 3 types of colonies?- charter, royal, and proprietary. Explain what is meant by the “power of the purse”

Students will identify what Englishmen cite as their rights-row activity Identify the big mistake England made with the colonies.

Describe the 3 types of colonies-charter, royal, and proprietary. Discuss the religious make up of the colonies. Explain the concept of established churches- distribute Established churches/MD religious timeline

Students will discuss and identify reasons for the religious diversity of the Middle Colonies compared to the religious homogeneity of New England and the South by analyzing the Maryland Religious History time line and the religious census

Students will complete the colonial charts

Students will describe the religious diversity of the Middle Colonies Handout decades charts and war chart for binders

Read American Pageant Chapter 3 and 4 Read the sections about the Great Awakening/Enlightenment pgs and utilize online sources to complete either the Great Awakening section or the Enlightenment section.

Students will debate the impact of the Great Awakening and the Enlightenment and decide which event had more of an impact.
