DIGNITY FOR ALL MADE BY:HAMZA HAYAT ABDUL AHAD YASIR HUSSAIN MOOSA GILLANI

WHAT IS DIGNITY? Dignity means being respected for who you are and what you believe in. That’s something that can be done in both big and little ways. Saying please or lending a helping hand are ways of showing dignity. Sharing your toys with others or making a donation to a food bank are ways of showing dignity. Being kind to others – no matter who they are, what they look like, where they come from – is a way to show dignity

WILL YOU BE A CHAMPION OF DIGNITY IN CARE? You can help to ensure that health care treats the whole person – body, mind and spirit. It’s a tremendous responsibility – and opportunity – for everyone working in health care, whether they do their job in the operating room or on the telephone.

ABOUT THE DIGNITY IN CARE TEAM The Manitoba Palliative Care Research Unit (MPCRU) at Cancer Care Manitoba was established seven years ago to conduct research on psychosocial, existential and spiritual dimensions of palliative end-of-life care. Its primary goal is to improve quality of life and ease suffering of dying people and their families through research. After studying the importance of dignity in the lives of dying patients, the team began looking at how their compelling findings could be extended to other aspects of health care.

HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN "DIGNITY" TO A CHILD? For many children, dignity is an unfamiliar term. You have a wonderful opportunity to talk to the children in your life about the dignity that resides in each of us and to help them develop the values and character traits that exemplify a dignified life.
