 In this lesson, let us contrast the obedience of Moses and Jesus Christ.  The former was faithful as a servant; the latter was faithful as a Son.  The former manifested partial and incomplete obedience; the latter demonstrated full and perfect submission to the will of God (Heb. 3:1-6).

 He was counted as faithful (Heb. 3:1-6; Num. 12:5-8; 1 Cor. 4:1-2).  He followed the pattern (Exod. 25:8-9, 40; 26:30; 40:16; Num. 8:4; Rom. 6:16- 18; Phil. 3:17-19).

 In the Wilderness of Sin, he obeyed God’s commandment by striking the rock (Exod. 17:1-7).  However, in the Wilderness of Zin, he disobeyed God’s commandment by striking the rock (Num. 20:1-13, 23-29; 27:12-14; Deut. 1:34-40; 3:23-29; 32:48-52; Ps. 106:32-33).

 Moses was faithful, but on occasion fell short and sinned; in comparison, Christ exhibited perfect obedience.  Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to God’s throne of grace (Heb. 4:15-16), taking full advantage of his sacrifice and service (Heb. 7:26-28).
