The US Should Legalize Gay Marriage In All States Project 2, Part 2 Sierra Tailes

According to the Huffington Post : Only 16 out of our fifty states support and allow same-sex marriages

In This Presentation, I Will:  Discuss The Harms  Look At The Cause Of The Problem  Present A Plan Of Action  Examine How The Plan Will Free The Harms  Explore Additional Benefits To Legalizing Same-Sex Marriage

Harm 1: Keeping same-sex marriage illegal in all states can keep families from benefits of heterosexual couples.  Same-sex couples who are not able to legally marry, are not able to share such benefits like insurance plans and social  In a video debate with Pierce Morgan and Suze Orman, Suze states that because her and her partner cannot marry, her partner has to spend on average $15,000 a year for health insurance

Harm 2: Keeping Gay marriage illegal can keep hurting the economic debt.  According to ProCon.org, gay marriages can bring financial gain to state and local governments by  This same article states that “New York City found that legalizing gay marriage would bring $142 million to city’s economy, and $184 million to the state’s economy over the course of three years.”

Harm 3: Keeping gay marriage illegal can keep couples from a family and children from a home.  In an article by the Huffington Post, just within the states that have legalized gay marriage, couples that adopt increased by 9,000 within the years 2000 and 2009  Families can become whole, and children can gain homes

The Causes :  The views of same-sex marriage is just based on what we are told to think  People are told it is “weird” and “unnatural”

Plan Of Action:  Define the Agency/ Who will solve the problem: The United States Government will solve the issue.  Define the Mandates/ This is what you want to happen: Congress will pass a law to legalize gay marriage in all fifty states of America.  Enforcement/ How will the plan be enforced?: It will be enforced by the President of the United states and the US government by stating this law to be passed in all states.  Funding and Staffing/ Where will the money come from?: Funding and staffing will be in campaigns and advertisements to help get peoples attention to vote and pass the law. The money for funding can come from any donations from the LGBT organizations.  Timeline Immediately

Solvency:  Harm 1: Same-sex marriages will be granted the same benefits as heterosexual marriages.  These families will be able to gain health insurance benefits along with social security and any other benefits of heterosexual marriages  These families will also be able to use the money they are saving from joint benefits for their children.  Harm 2: Legalizing gay marriage will help economic debt.  Instead of wasting money on state benefit programs and single person taxes, same-sex marriage would bring in money by stopping the programs and by paying higher taxes as a married couple  Harm 3: Can make having a family possible for same-sex couples and children without a home.  If same-sex marriages were legal in every state, then every homosexual couple would have a higher chance of adoption because then the child would be in a two parent household instead of a one parent.  This would give more opportunity to the children without homes to gain two parents.

Additional Advantages:  A. Legalizing gay marriage would equalize everyone in our nation.  B. It would save the strain on future generation psychologically  C. It will decrease the divorce rates in the US.

Please Consider the legalization of same-sex marriage, to not just bring families together, but to bring our society together.
