”Women & Learning: Strategies for Empowerment” Sharon Claffey Kaliouby Thomson Reuters Frontline Learning (Panel Leader) Kathy Tague Cablevision VP, Training & Professional Development Deborah Cameron Pacific Dental Services Vice President, People and Learning Lisa Cannata Orlando Health Chief Learning Officer Tracy Petrillo EDUCAUSE Chief Learning Officer Martha Soehren Comcast Chief Talent Development Officer & SVP

”Women & Learning: Strategies for Empowerment” Be a “risk taker” Women need to help women! Look for opportunities to get involved in a board or non-profits. Raising your hand and “leaning in” for yourself Be a volunteer both professionally and personally – this will build your leadership skills Stay in the driver’s seat of your own career Develop yourself!; women tend to be more comfortable developing others versus themselves Along with mentors – you need to identify and align with a corporate sponsor Apply for the job you want even if you think you are under qualified; women tend to over analyze and need more confidence in our potential to do the role Work hard and be low maintenance Know when to ‘walk away’ or ‘act on it’; both are equally as important Keep business simple Recognize you are always on a platform (gender, diversity …)

Recommended Resources Deborah recommends: “The First 90 Days: Proven Strategies for Getting Up to Speed Faster and Smarter, Updated and Expanded” by Michael D. Watkins “Power Questions: Build Relationships, Win New Business, and Influence Others” “Younger Next Year for Women: Live Strong, Fit, and Sexy - Until You're 80 and Beyond” by Chris Crowley Sharon recommends: “Lean In” (to simply agree or dispute) Kathy recommends: “Six Disciplines of Breakthrough Learning: How to Turn Training and Development into Business Results” “Change the Way You Think about Learning and Development” “Change Your Questions Change Your Life” Martha recommends: “The Self Aware Leader” by Dan Gallagher Lisa recommends: “Own the Room”
