Hunger Hunger is a global issue that cannot always be seen. However, 1 in every 6 Americans suffer from hunger (Feeding America, 2013) 1 in every 8 people around the world were suffering from chronic undernourishment in (World Hunger, 2013).
Who Does Hunger Effect? Students Parents Administration Local businesses
Stereotypes and prejudice Some common thoughts about hunger: Hunger affects those only who are homeless or out of work Children are taken care of by programs College-educated people do not feel the affects of hunger Urban communities suffer from hunger more than rural areas
What can we do? School: Teachers form themed lesson plans around the topic of hunger Community: Students go into the community to share what they have learned Both: School and community come together for fundraiser event

Fundraiser Event Hunger Drive Event Venue: High school Activity: Possible ideas include carnival, bounce houses, board game night Donations: Canned and paper goods donated, monetary donations accepted Silent auction items Businesses: Corporate sponsorships, leveled tiers of giving, recognized at event, donate silent auction items

Many times, we feel that issues such as hunger does not affect us or the community we live in. It’s not something that dominantly presents itself, not something we can see. However, hunger is here. Let’s work together to help make a difference for those in need.
