Trevor Bernier Thomas Lennon Daniel Tamayo Multi-Sensory System For Monitoring Dyskinesias in Movement Disorders

Introduction ● New and innovative way to monitor movement disorders ● System can be used in a real clinical setting ● Wearable Devices are one of lead up and coming Biomedical technologies ● Can be used to diagnose different movement disorders o Parkinson’s Disease o Restless Leg Syndrome o Cerebral Palsy

Overview

Hardware ●Arduino Mini Pro- o Microprocessor used to control data collection, data transfer, battery and charging management ●Bluetooth Mate Silver- o Used to transmit data from the wearable device to the Android Smartphone wirelessly ●ADXL335 Accelerometer- o 3-axis sensing to collect data ●Android Smartphone- o Used to store, process, and upload data. o Also can be used for viewing data after processing

Standards ●FDA Class II- o Powered device ●Medical Device Standards- o IEC : prevention of shocks and burns ●IPC Standards- o Printed Circuit Board

Results ●Take home system ●Aims to aid physicians in diagnosing and monitoring patients with movement disorders. ●Access to patients daily symptoms ●lengthier and more accurate monitoring ●Improved patient quality of life with better medication dosage.
