 Create a flyer which will explain the origin of a word you will be given  Flyer must include  The word  The origin of the word  How the word changed over time  The modern definition of the word  The word used in a sentence  An illustration of the word

 One possible source for this information is 

The word hick originated from in the late 14 century. It began as a nickname for Richard from the period of Middle English. By 1700 it came to mean an “awkward provincial person.” It is recorded as an adjective by 1914 Now the word as a noun means an unsophisticated person; as an adjective it means an unsophisticated area. Sentence: The hicks came to town riding in the back of the truck yelling “yee-haw” and shooting their shotguns.

 You will be in groups of 3-4 depending on class size.  Your group is responsible for developing a list of slang or new English terms. These are words that have a different meaning than they may have had 10 years ago or words that did not exist 10 years ago such as the word google used as a verb  You will be creating a dictionary for these words

 Each entry will need the following items  Word  Pronunciation  Definition  Part of speech  The dictionary can be set up in any format you like: on paper, in a book, digitally, flashcards, etc. Use your creativity.  Everyone must have his/her own responsibilities for the project. You may decide how you wish to divide these responsibilities.  You need at least two illustrations for your dictionary. These can be drawn, cut out, or computer generated.
