Using Draw Tools C 2012jkc

Click File on the menu bar and select Page Setup on the drop- down menu to get the Page Setup dialog box. Under the Margins tab select Landscape for the page Orientation C 2012jkc

Click View on the menu bar and select Toolbars then Drawing on the drop-down menus to display the drawing toolbar as shown on the next slide C 2012jkc

Drawing Tool Bar Line Tool Rectangle Tool Oval Tool The Drawing toolbar should now be displayed as shown. Some of the tools used for section 7.2 are pointed out. Text Box Tool C 2012jkc

Click the Line Tool on the Drawing Toolbar and position the crosshairs on the page where you want to draw the line. Press the left mouse button and without releasing, drag the mouse (left or right) to create the line (see next slide). C 2012jkc

The line created should be similar to the one shown here. Using the same procedure, select the oval and rectangle buttons on the Drawing Toolbar to create a circle, square and rectangle like the ones on the next slide. C 2012jkc

These are the objects that should have been created so far. Next we will format the objects as follows in the next slide C 2012jkc

Position the mouse pointer on the line, and when the 4 arrowheads appear, right- click to get the drop-down menu shown. Select Format Autoshape to get the dialog box shown on the next slide. C 2012jkc

Under the Colors and Lines tab of the Format AutoShape dialog box, select a black Line Color, a continuous Line Style and a Line Weight of about 4 points. C 2012jkc

Right-click on each object in turn (circle, box and rectangle) and using steps similar to the previous slide, fill the objects with the correct Fill Color. The project should look like the next slide up to this point. C 2012jkc

Click on the red rectangle to select it (the sizing handles should appear (8 small white circles around the perimeter of the object plus the green one for rotating the object). 1 Click the 3-D Style button on the Drawing Toolbar and select 3-D Style 1 from the options presented to transform the rectangle into a 3-D object (rectangular solid) as shown on the next slide. C 2012jkc

Up to this point, this project is 7.2 project 1. Save it as such then save it again as 7.2 project 2, where we will layer/order the objects as well as rotate them on the next few slides. C 2012jkc

Drag the objects and lay them on top of each other as shown below. We will order them and then position them as follows on the next slide. C 2012jkc

The objects must be ordered with the line in the very back, with the rectangular solid in front of it, the circle in front of the rectangular solid and finally, the square in front of all the other objects. 1 Since the line is already positioned right, we need to place the rectangular solid right in front of it. Right-click the rectangular solid to select it and then select Order and Send Backward on the drop-down menus to position it properly as shown on the next slide. 2 C 2012jkc

Now the square must be moved in front of the circle. Right click Now the square must be moved in front of the circle. Right-click the square and select Order, and Bring Forward on the drop- down menus to properly position the square (as shown on the next slide). C 2012jkc

Now that we have ordered the objects correctly, we only have to rotate the rectangular solid and the square and position the objects precisely to match the textbook image. See next few slides for more guidance. C 2012jkc

Click on the rectangular solid and move the mouse pointer over the green handle. A circular arrow should appear. Click the green handle then and drag it counter-clockwise to properly position the rectangular solid as in the next slide. C 2012jkc

Do the same for the blue square as you did for the rectangular solid to position the square properly (see next slide). C 2012jkc

This is how the project should look for 7.2 project 2. For 7.2 project 3, we need to add a robot clipart, a text box, and a callout. Placing clipart images on a document and Creating and formatting textboxes were covered in the tutorial for 7.1 projects 1 & 2. See Title Page tutorial if you need a review. The next few slides deal with creating a callout. C 2012jkc

Click on AutoShapes on the drawing toolbar and select Callouts and Line Callout 2 on the drop-down menus, then click and drag from the robot image to the left to place the callout on the page. See next slide. C 2012jkc

Size and position the callout, by using the sizing handles and clicking and dragging when the 4 arrowheads appear as the mouse pointer is placed on the border of the callout. Then type the text and center it. See next slide. Sizing handles (8 circles around the perimeter) C 2012jkc

7.2 project 3 should look like this after it is completed Callout Textbox Clipart image from Internet C 2012jkc
