 The people depend on the summer monsoon for life- giving rain.  Provides water for crops

 The Indus River often floods during the Monsoon Season,so when they planned Mohenjo Daro they built it on high mounds of Earth.

 They had a functional sewer system under the brick streets of the city that carried away household waste.

Pakistan

 Around that time Indus River Valley farmers began to abandon their land. It could have been famine, climate change, an earthquake, or was it invaders from the north.
