UK Legislation “ Health & Safety Act 1974” (amended)

The Law The Act lays down general principles for the management of health and safety at work, through regulations enacted as Statutory Instruments or through codes of practice. The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH), The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at Work Regulations 1992 Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 European Health and Safety Framework Directive 89/391/EEC and changes with respect of articles and substances used at work, were made by the Consumer Protection Act 1987 in order to implement the Product Liability Directive 85/374/EEC

Health & Safety Training in the UK is post 16 yrs only. Non mainstream subject Post 16 considered as a vocational qualification Countable as a module within the National Vocational Qualification framework Until 2007 Food Safety & Health & Safety were considered as level 1 qualifications in their own right and government funded applied that level has now been dropped from the LAD Safety Training to employers now starts at €30 to €50 depending on level (elementary, intermediate, advanced) Health & Safety training
