Uganda-1: Bonnie K. Byaruhanga Bonnie Byaruhanga is Chief of Human Relations and Staff Welfare at Centenary Bank a full service development bank that also provides micro-credit operations. Bonnie received a one year Diploma in Development Management from the International Management Development Institute at GSPIA in 1988 and (See pictures below)

Uganda 4: Sylvia Tamusuza Sylvia Nannyonga Tamusuza has a Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh in Ethnomusicology and is Senior Lecturer of Ethnomusicology at Makerere University in Kampala. Prof. Picard served as the outside committee member on Sylvia’s PhD Committee.

Tanzania-1: Athumani Liviga Athumani J. Liviga is a specialist in local government and graduated with a PhD in International Development (with a focus on development) in He currently is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Dar es Salaam. He also serves as a research consultant for Scandinavian consulting firms and the Dutch Embassy. He says he is still a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. (See below)

Tanzania-3: Estomih Nkya Estomih Nkya is Director of Research and Post- graduate Studies and is an Associate Professor (Economic Development Policy) Mzumbe University, Morogoro, Tanzania. He graduated from GSPIA in 1995 with a PhD in International Development Policy. Since his graduation Estomah has become very active in the International Society for New Institutional Economics and regularly attends their conferences all over the world. Below he is shown with Prof. Douglass North at the Tucson, Arizona meeting of the Society.

Tanzania-5: Walter Maeda, Businessman Arusha, Tanzania (former Student of Lou Picard at Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter Minnesota).

Tanzania-6 Mathias Zana Naab Mathias Naab is Program Coordinator for the Democracy and Governance Unity of the United Nations Development Programme in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He holds the PhD in Public and International Affairs (ID) with a focus on Governance. He is originally from Ghana but has also worked in Nigeria and Washington D.C. for the International Republican Institute.

Kenya-1: George Gitau George Gitau works in the Kenya office of Compassion International Africa, an NGO which focuses on the needs of social development (health and education) for Children in the Africa. Region-Complementary Programs. He commutes between Kenya and Kigale, Rwanda and formerly was country director in Burkina Faso.

Kenya-3- Joseph Kivuva Joseph Kivuva holds the PhD in International Development from GSPIA. He completed his degree in 2006, returned to Kenya in April of 2008 and now teaches at the University of Nairobi in the Political Science Department. His field of specialization is civil society and social capital. (See below)

Kenya-5: Paul Armour Paul Armour graduated from GSPIA in 1992 with an MIPIA degree and worked at GSPIA for several years as a program coordinator for the International Management Development Institute. Paul represents a model for gaining experience through practical training work which the IMDI represented until it was abolished in the mid-1990a. Armour went on to work for several years for the International Refugee Committee as field coordinator of the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, assisting refugees from Southern Sudan. He now works with Catholic Relief Services as Country Representative in Indonesia.
