Show case Presentation Presented by Thamsanqa Ncube (I.T LECTURER)

The presentation will focus on: THAMSANQA NCUBE  Teaching methodologies  Development Plan  Portfolio showcase  Scholarship of Teaching and Learning  Challenges during 2013

Teaching methodologies implemented in 2013  Incorporation of information technology. Taught students how to use networking simulation software. (packet tracer)  The students can use virtual PC to use server software.  Students are able to use troubleshooting tools such as the crimping tools and cable testers.  Students where able to view real live servers on campus.  Students can identify components of PCs, devices such switches, hubs, cables such as UTP, STP.  Group presentations i.e. research topics.  videos THAMSANQA NCUBE

Teaching methodologies Presenter : Payos Njini

Developmental plan Teaching by task. E.g disable a jumper on the motherboard and task student to enable it. individual progression assigning each student with a task to present in a lecture. Guest Speaker Comparisons and object lessons Presenter : THAMSANQA NCUBE

Emerging new software utilities to be used in future in my lecture  Packet tracer  Network simulator  GNS  Virtual box Presenter : THAMSANQA NCUBE

Portfolio Showcase  The use of simulation software for demonstration.  Simulation software provides real configuration of devices.  To give learners practical experience of configuring server operating system and clients.  Simulation software also provides the capability of the commands to test the designed network.  Improves the learners to understand how real life systems operate and how they can be configured. Presenter : THAMSANQA NCUBE

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning  Teaching students how to configure server operating system,  Installing operating systems and upgrade paths.  Use of simulation software  ICE ACTIVITY : grouping students to setup a network using three computers and also using virtual machines.  My research topic is Emerging technologies a means for facilitating teaching and learning Presenter : THAMSANQA NCUBE

Challenges during 2013  IT Labs  Dis-functional Computers  Students failing to log-in.  Labs do not have the software as expected by their Assignments. Finding companies for DITM 3 Presenter : THAMSANQA NCUBE
