DR:TAGWA MIERGHANI MOHAMED

 There are variety between intra and extra oral machine design.  The radiographer must have clear understanding of the operating procedures for the specific equipment that use in dental office to avoid improper exposure of patients and dental personnel.

 Intra oral ( film placed inside the mouth )  Extra oral ( film placed out side the mouth )

 The typical intraoral dental x-ray machine features three component parts. 1- tube head : that produces dental x-ray. 2- extension arm : suspended the tube head the electrical wires and allows the movement.

3- control panel : allows the dental radiographer to regulate the x-ray beam, the control panel is plugged into electrical outlet.that may be mounted to the floor or wall support. Or remote wall location outside the dental operatory.

 On-off switch  Exposure button  Control devices to regulate the x- ray beam and kilovaltage and also contain timer.

 A device use for hold the intraoral film in the mouth.  Film holders eliminate the need for patient to stabilize the film.  Its required for paralleling technique.

 Bite block  Snap –a-ray  Endo ray  Precision film holder  Rinn
