How does the ocean affect weather?

Ocean water is heated at the equator. Why does it heat up more at the equator than other parts of the world?

 What would happen to England’s weather if the warm water did not go there? Turn and Talk  It would be very cold and hard to live there. The warm ocean movement helps heat more of the Earth.

Water takes a long time to get warm Once water is warm it stays warm longer This is why the ocean helps heat more of the world.

SummerWinter  Air temperature is cooled in the summer over the ocean.  Air temperature is warmed in the winter over the ocean.

 Oakland is near a large ocean. How does that affect the weather? Explain your answer.
