Welcome to St. Peter! The Scripture lessons for this Second Sunday in Lent help us focus on the core truths of the Bible: forgiveness and salvation are God’s gifts to us by grace and through faith in Jesus Christ. May these truths refresh you on your Lenten journey to the cross and empty tomb of Jesus, the Savior for all mankind.

Welcome to St. Peter! There are friendship registers at the end of each row. Please take a moment to give us your information so that we have a record of your time with us today. Thank you!

For Our Guests If you have questions, let us try to help. Speak with an usher, greeter, or the person next to you. If you’d like to learn more about St. Peter and its ministry, please talk to a pastor or member after the service.

Prayer before Worship Lord Jesus, I cannot thank you enough for all that you have done to save me from my sins by your grace and the Spirit’s gift of faith in you. Accept my worship and praise, and use me to bring the living water of your love to people in my life who are thirsty for salvation. I ask this trusting in you. Amen.

Please be courteous and silence all pagers and cell phones. Thank you

Come to Calvary's Holy Mountain CW # 106 Verses 1-4 Text: James Montgomery, Setting: NAAR MIT ÖIE Tune: Ludvig M. Lindeman,

Verse 1: Come to Calv'ry's holy mountain, Sinners, ruined by the fall; Here a pure and healing fountain Flows to you, to me, to all, In a full, perpetual tide, Opened when our Savior died.

Verse 2: Come in poverty and meanness, Come defiled, without, within; From infection and uncleanness, From the leprosy of sin, Wash your robes and make them white; You shall walk with God in light.

Verse 3: Come in sorrow and contrition, Wounded, paralyzed, and blind; Here the guilty, free remission, Here the troubled, peace may find, Health this fountain will restore; He that drinks shall thirst no more.

Verse 4 (Please Rise): He that drinks shall live forever; 'Tis a soul-renewing flood. God is faithful; God will never Break his covenant of blood, Signed when our Redeemer died, Sealed when he was glorified.

Pastor: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. All: Amen.

Pastor: Lent is a special season of the Church Year during which we make a special effort to confess our sins to the Lord and to repent of them. Let us then bow before God and humbly ask his forgiveness.

All: Holy and merciful Father, I confess that I am by nature sinful and that I have disobeyed you in my thoughts, words, and actions. I have done what is evil and failed to do what is good. For this I deserve your punishment both now and in eternity.

All: But I am truly sorry for my sins, and trusting in my Savior Jesus Christ, I pray: Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.

(Pastor announces our forgiveness) All: Amen.

Pastor: O Lord, teach us your ways that we may walk in your truth. All: You comfort and help us day by day. We trust your loving care.

Pastor: You are the King of heaven and earth. All: We give you praise and thanks.

Oh, come, let us sing to the Lord, Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving, Let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise. Song of Praise

For the Lord is a great God and a great king above all gods. The deep places of the earth are in his hand; The heights of the hills are also his. The sea is his, for he made it, Song of Praise

And his hand formed the dry land. Oh, come, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before the Lord our maker. For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. Song of Praise

Pastor: Let us pray. (Pastor says the prayer of the day) All: Amen.
