Milano! Lucca! Napoli! By Lachlan, Matt and Arthur.

MILANO! MILANO! San Siro San Siro is the largest football stadium in the whole of Italy. It is situated in the heart of Milan. San Siro is home to two Italy’s biggest football clubs, Internazional Milan and AC Milan. It has a capacity of over 80,000 people and 3 seating levels. Originally built in 1925, the San Siro was only home to AC Milan, until 1947, when Internazional Milan Also called it their home. The san Siro was originally named the ‘Stadio Comunale’, however in 1979, it was renamed the ‘Stadio Giuseppe Meazza’, as well as being completely renovated. Giuseppe Meazza was a superb football player who played for both Milan team. He had gained the nickname ‘San Siro’, and this is how the stadium got its name. I have chosen this Tourist attraction because it is a part of the future of Italian football. It inspires that two of the greatest rivals In the Italian football league ( seria A), share the same stadium to train and play football on.

MILANO! Teatro Alla Scala La Scala is a world renowned opera house Located in Milan. The theatre Was inaugurated on the 3 rd of August in 1778 and was originally known as the New Royal-Ducal Theatre at La Scala. The first ever stage performance was Antonio Salieri’s operatic Europa Riconosciuta. During the past two hundred years or so many of Italy’s operatic artists and the grandest singers have performed on its stage as well as performers around the world. The theatre also has a school associated with it, known as the La Scuola theatre academy and offers performers of different arts to succeed. I have chosen this tourist attraction because it is a world renowned opera house, where famous performers come from across the world to perform, including the late Pavarotti and Placido Domingo.

MILANO! Cathedral S.Maria Nascente- Noume Of Milan Built on the original church of Santa Maria Maggiore is the Duomo of Milan and stands one hundred and eight metres tall, ninety-three metre wide, and is one hundred and fifty- seven metres in length. It is one of the largest churches in Europe. It is decorated with more than three thousand, four hundred different statues. The work of the cathedral Duomo began in It is considered one of the most inspiring neo gothic displays of architecture, not just in Italy but around Europe and the world. The architecture itself inspired others to design such buildings all over Europe. I have chosen this tourist attraction due to its very historical culture In the catholic religion and its sheer size and appearance.

MILANO! Galleria Vittorio Emmanuelle II The Galleria Vittorio Emmanuelle II is a double arcade covered with a beautiful glass roof. The complex opens up into an octagon shape. It is sited on the northern side of the Piazza del Duomo in Milan. It also connects the Piazza Della Scala. The building was named after the first king of united Italy, Vittorio Emmanuelle II. The building was originally designed and then built by Giuseppe Mengoni between Because it is now a shopping mall, not a gallery, it inspired the term galleria used for its many shopping malls today. I have chosen this tourist attraction because it highlights the transformation Milan has gone through to become the modern and fashionable town it is now today.

MILANO! Interesting fact! Did you know that Milan is known as the fashion capital of the world?

Lucca! The Guinigi Tower The Guinigi tower is a must-see tourist attraction when visiting Lucca. This magnificent structure has a beautiful hanging garden on the roof top. This building is dedicated to the Guinigi family and its decedents. It is constructed with a Romanesque-Gothic technique. This gives it a classical, antique feel. This tower has fourteen stories and contains a central staircase system inside. On the top of the fourteenth floor, the hanging garden holds many different types of plants including seven “Holm oak” trees. This is a must see attraction because it has played an important role in the history of Lucca and is one of the few towers remaining within the walls. It is a very old tower and a lot of history goes behind it.

Lucca! Duomo Di San Martino This building is the cathedral of Lucca. It is a marvelous building and has stood since one hundred and six AD. Like many building in Italy, it was constructed in the gothic style. Its body consists of three beautiful arches, and it is home to shrines and many graves to some important people in roman history. It is finely detailed and decorated beautifully. This building shows off what talent the architects had and the effort to develop such a detailed cathedral. Even though little remains of this church, it is an amazing experience. This is a great tourist attraction to visit because Catholicism was very important in Roman history and its age really depicts Italian religion.

Lucca! Piazza Dell’Anfiteatro This amphitheater was constructed in the 1 st century AD. The Piazza Dell'Anfiteatro was a place for local entertainment around Lucca. This amphitheater was different to most amphitheaters in that it had no official seating area. Patrons stood to watch the many gladiatorial games and shows that were held here. The Piazza Dell'Anfiteatro was surrounded by residential buildings and shops. The Piazza Dell'Anfiteatro included fifty- four arches, and was able to hold as many as ten thousand spectators. I chose this tourist attraction because amphitheaters played such an important role in Italian entertainment, its history, and you can still see it today.

Lucca! San Michele In Foro San Michele in Foro is a church located in Lucca. It was originally built in the seven hundred and ninety-five AD, but since then, parts of it have been renovated. San Michele in Foro was very popular with pilgrims in medieval times. San Michele in Foro was named after the first forum in Lucca, San Michele. Numerous events were held at and around the forum and church of San Michele because it was a very central and social place. A lot of famous architects worked in Lucca between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. The detailed work emphasizes this. This church is a great attraction to visit because it’s a very important venue to the city of Lucca. As with all the other churches around Lucca and Italy, this tourist attraction shows off the religious culture throughout Italy.

Lucca! Interesting fact! Lucca has a wall, composed of small red bricks. This was built to protect the city from Florence, which had previously tried to invade Lucca. Lucca

Napoli! Teatro San Carlo The Teatro San Carlo Is one of the largest theatres is Italy. It was originally built in 1737, and took eight months to complete. It was destroyed in 1816, but rebuilt shortly after. Today, the Teatro San Carlo is mainly used for opera singing. It has a total of six levels and two hundred seating boxes. The stage is enormous, and has a unique backdrop that can be removed to show the gardens of the Palazzo Reale. Being such a large and pristine theatre, bookings and ticket prices are extremely expensive. I have chosen this tourist attraction because stage entertainment and performance is very popular in Italy and those going must take the time to appreciate their talent.

Napoli! Cathedral Of Naples The Cathedral of Naples is Roman Catholic church the main and largest church in the whole of Naples, and Southern Italy. The cathedral is dedicated to San Gennaro, a previous Italian bishop, who is also the towns patron. Many religious legends and stories come from the cathedral. The building is very old, but the present building was mostly built between 1294 and 1323.Inside the cathedral, there are sixteen finely constructed piers, one hundred granite columns and forty-six large painting of significant saints for various reasons. I have chosen this tourist attraction because being one of the largest churches in Italy, tourists can really feel how time consuming it would have taken to develop all its inner beauty.

Napoli! Castel Nouvo The Castel Nuovo was created by a French architect called Pierre d’Angicourt and then constructed between 1279 and It was originally built when the capital of the kingdom of Naples was moves to Naples from Palermo. Charles I of Anjou was king at the time and ordered a new castle to be built in the new capital. The castle has been modified several times since being built, the last being in in Today, the castle has been a destination for many movies and television programs. If I was going to Naples, this would be the first tourist attraction I would visit, due to all the history that goes behind it and its sheer size and appearance.

Napoli! Church Of Gesu The Church Of Gesu is a Church and a meeting square in Naples. The church was originally built a palace/private home for Roberto sanseverino in The Jesuits ought it off Roberto and eventually turned it into a Roman Catholic Inside the church, it has three aisle which correspond to the entrance door. The architectural style is renaissance. The alter is made by very expensive marble, as is the pillars and floor. The Church of Gesu contains eleven chapels. I have chosen to write about this tourist attraction because it is an easy place to visit being close to the centre of Napoli and many hotels are positioned close by. The different chapels are fascinating to explore and after visiting you can sit and relax outside in the square.

Napoli! Interesting fact! Pizza was invented In Napoli. It is one of the oldest cities in the world. Naples also has a very high crime rate.
