DU’A رَبَّنَآ اٰتِنَا فِیۡ الدُّنۡیَا حَسَنَۃً O our Rabb give us in this world that which is good وَّ فِیۡ ا لۡاٰخِرَۃِ حَسَنَۃً And in the Hereafter that which is good وَّ قِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ And save us from the severe punishment of The fire

Two types of wants Universal(Common to all of us) Specific Wants(Different for most of us)

When we are born We want caring parents

Nice toys

We want good friends As we grow

We want all the comforts of this world that money can buy

Good food

Fun entertainment

As we grow more We want to look good

And be popular

We want to be praised

And respected too !

We want to be the best in every thing we do

Teenage

Girls want to look prettier than everyone

We want to have the coolest room

We want to do good in studies

Be our teacher’s favorite

Then as we grow older We want to have good jobs

Guys want to have fancy cars

A wonderful life partner

High Lifestyle

Girls want to be the best cooks

And be perfect house wives

We also want to have a great figure

Despite eating a lot!

Then a new phase of life starts We want to have our own child

A boy and a girl

Lots of them

Who are healthy

Bright

And beautiful

We want them to be obedient

No matter how old they are

And our own parents to be pleased with us too

Then you grow old We pray to be on our feet right till the end

History repeats itself

This time All your “wants” are for your children and grand children

Your wish list only ends with you!

And you wonder “Is this Hasanah ?” If you only wanted this

All this can easily make your life lop sided

Where as Qur’an teaches us to have a balanced life

How

Lets and go back

To the age where you are right now

What all has Allah (swt) already given you?

intelligence Are you also using it to learn and spread Islam?

wealth Are you spending a part of it on Friends Relatives Poor

Good looks Do you avoid displaying it where Allah (swt) has forbidden?

Friends Do you talk to them about Allah (swt)? Do you avoid bad company?

Talent Do you use it to please Allah (swt)?

Loving parents Do you obey and respect them?

Loving family Are they obedient to Allah? If not then what are you doing about it?

Time and energy How much of it is used to please Allah (swt)?

Respect Are you nice to others?

Is dong good deeds an entertainment for you? In a

GOOD NEWS Good News

For Hasanah we don’t have to quit our desires

Our wishes need not be either/ or World Hereafter

We can have both

What makes our wishes complete?

Also asking for the best in the Hereafter

But we are too scared Allah (swt) might not give this world to me

Allah (swt) can give us both Hereafter world

Our fate in this world is already decided by Allah (swt)

Where as Our fate in the Hereafter is determined by our deeds in this world

Your deeds in this world will help you buy Jannah in the Hereafter
