Diagnose fuel system related problems, including hot or cold no-starting, hard starting, poor driveability, incorrect idle speed, poor idle, flooding, hesitation, surging, engine misfire, power loss, stalling, poor mileage, and emissions problems; determine root cause; determine needed action. 2. Interpret fuel or induction system related diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs); analyze fuel trim and other scan tool data; determine needed repairs. 3. Inspect fuel tank, filler neck, and gas cap; inspect and replace fuel lines, fittings, and hoses; check fuel for contaminants and quality. 4. Inspect, test, and replace fuel pump(s) and/or fuel pump assembly; inspect, service, and replace fuel filters.
