The Deer Hunter By: Matthew Degitz

There once was a hunter who always hunted the same spot every year. For years and years he did not get anything.

The hunter’s name was John. He woke up everyday in hunting season and got dressed and went into the woods.

Once, he found a place to stop and scout the area for any deer. He sat and sat for hours and hours.

John sat there so long that he fell asleep up against the tree. He woke up and there were deer tracks all around him.

John followed the tracks, it seemed like it was never ending. Finally, he saw a deer in the distance. He stopped on a stick-- SNAP went the stick, then the deer went flying!

When the deer ran, he went into the deep woods, and John kept looking for him. The snow was coming down so hard he couldn’t see!

John sees where the deer is going, and it goes into a cave. So, he walks into the cave and the deer is cornered. “I will get him,” said John happily.

John walks into the dark cave and sees party balloons hanging. John walks in and sees that the deer are “chillin” inside the cave.

The deer are throwing a party in the cave! That is where they hide out during hunting season, so they don’t get caught.

John becomes friends with the deer, and he says, “I will never hunt deer again.”
