Editing Process Of Front Cover Lauren Alger I have shown screen shots of how I have put together all four of my pages for my final music magazine product and the tools that I have used within InDesign to do this.

1.I have started off with a blank A4 sized document on InDesign. 2. I have created a box using the rectangular marquee tool and gone to ‘file’, ‘place’, found the appropriate logo image and placed it into the box. I have then resized and rearranged the image to fill the appropriate space on the page. 3. Using the rectangle tool (CMD M) I have created 3 boxes, two to act as banners on the top and bottom of the page and one to act as the background. I have then changed the colour of these boxes to red and grey using the colour palette from the left hand options bar. 4. To add text, as my main cover line text, I have again created a box with the rectangular marquee tool and then with the type tool, clicked inside this box and started writing. I have then used the options in the top options bar to change the font, size and colour of the text. 5. By creating boxes using the rectangular marquee tool and then going to ‘file’, ‘place’ and sourcing the image from my document, I have now added a barcode image, my main cover central image, a secondary image and the ‘STORMBRINGER’ logo, all of which I had previously edited in Photoshop. 6. In appose to the rectangle tool, I have now used the ellipse (CMD L) to create a circle/half circle in the corner of my page to act as a puff.

7. By making boxes using the rectangular marquee tool and writing inside these boxes using the text tool. I have then added all of the text to my front page, apart from my cover lines. I have then used the options bar at the top of the page to change the font size and colour all of all my text. 8. Finally, I have added the text for my cover lines and have used the options bar at the top of the software page to add a black outline to the artists name on my cover lines to make them stand out further.

Editing Process Of Contents Page Lauren Alger

1. Firstly, I have used the rectangular marquee tool to make a box the size of the entire A4 page. I have then gone to ‘file’, ‘place’ and found my main contents page photograph. 2. I have then right clicked inside the box and gone to ‘fitting’ and ‘fit content to frame’, In the same window I have also clicked ‘display performance’ and then ‘high quality’. 3. Using the type tool and changing the font to ‘Stencil’ and font to 71, I have then added/written the title of the page in the top left hand corner. 4. Using he rectangular marquee tool to create boxes and then writing inside these boxes, I have now added all of the text to my page. I have then resized and rearrange this text to how I want it by simply clicking on it and dragging. 5. Using the options bar at the top of the page within the InDesign software, I have changed the font, colour and size of all of my text. 6. I have now used the rectangle tool (CMD M) to create a black box to act as the background of a ‘polaroid’ type secondary photograph. I have then added a drop shadow effect on to rectangle. Finally, I have ‘placed’ the appropriate image into the box by going to ‘file’, ‘place’ and sourcing the image from my documents.

Editing Process Of Double Page Spread Lauren Alger

1. Firstly, I have used the rectangular marquee tool to make a box the size of the entire A4 page. I have then gone to ‘file’, ‘place’ and found my main double page spread photograph. 2. I have then right clicked inside the box and gone to ‘fitting’ and ‘fit content to frame’, In the same window I have also clicked ‘display performance’ and then ‘high quality’. 3. I have then used the rectangular marquee tool again in the place that I require the band logo to be. I have then inserted the band logo by going to ‘file’, ‘place’ and sourcing the appropriate image. I have used the scaling tools to resize and rearrange the image. I have also rotated the image. 4. Using the rectangle tool (CMD M) I have created boxes, where my text will go. I have then changed the colour of these boxes to white using the colour palette from the left hand options bar. 6. Using the options from the options bar at the top of the software page, I have then changed the transparency of the box that will have my main feature text in so that it is not block white and some of the background behind is visible. 7. Using the text tool, I have then added all of my text inside of the boxes. I have then placed 5 photographs on my page and rearranged and resized them appropriately. 8. Finally, I have added a black line to each of these 5 images by changing the outline colour to black and increased the width of the line.
