Neurology

Basic Description Neuroscience is the study of the brain and the Nervous System. Neurologists treat patients and study fMRIs (Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging).

Characteristics Values: Must possess a care and kindness towards their patients. Must be determined. Tasks and Responsibilities: Assessing and diagnosing mental aptitudes, capabilities and disorders. Data-People-Things: Work with patients and nurses, fMRI data and medical equipment. Work Environment: Hospitals, Clinics, etc. Work Hours: 40 to 65 hours a week.

Characteristics Cont. Aptitudes and Abilities: Must be apt in research, medical terms and decision-making. Education and Training: Four years of undergraduate college, Four years of medical school, four years of residency. Salary and Benefits: $190,000 a year on average. Career Outlook: Diagnoses for Alzheimer’s and dementia increase, more Neurologists necessary. International Career Outlook: Doctors are more desired in third world countries.
