What jobs are there? o Veterinary technologists- perform the medical tests. o Veterinary assistants- responsible for doing front office work. o Animal caretakers- take care of personal needs of animals. o Animal behaviorists- Animal behaviorists design healthy habitats for animals. Also they study animal behavior s to enhance our knowledge.

College prep o 4 years of English or journalism, speech or communication are recommended. o 3 years of math: algebra, geometry, and as well as trigonometry and calculus if possible. o Should take as many courses in these subjects: Biology, microbiology, animal behavior, genetics and zoology. Better to take as many science classes as you can. o Chemistry and physics courses are also important.

Colleges and programs o 2 semesters of general chemistry with laboratory. o 2 semesters of organic chemistry with laboratory. o 1 or 2 semesters of biochemistry with laboratory. o 2 semesters of general biology. o 2 semesters of physics with laboratory. o The minimum requirement ranges from algebra and trigonometry to two semesters of calculus and varies with each school.

Future of the field o Jobs for Veterinarians that work with small animals are expected to grow much more throughout the years because of the love people have for their animals. o Jobs as a Veterinarian that works with bigger animals are growing much more slowly. But there will still be lots of jobs available for that.
