Washington, D.C. Fifth Grade Trip Virtual Tour and Scrapbook

Introduction You are invited to take an exciting virtual tour of our upcoming Washington, D.C., trip! You will experience the schedule of events and view the sites that you will see first-hand in March! You will also be provided with detailed information about the required Scrapbook and reflections.

Task You are about to experience the schedule and sites of our upcoming Washington, D.C., trip! The purpose of this quest is to familiarize you with the tour and to provide you with essential information to obtain at the various sites and the criteria to include in the reflective Scrapbook project. This information will be provided as you embark on your journey. Here we go…!

Process 1.Read the handouts carefully as you journey through the virtual tour and to complete the Scrapbook Project upon returning from the actual trip to Washington, D.C. 2.It is important to keep up with your notebook while on the trip, as you will be using this information for your Scrapbook. Include facts as well as personal thoughts. Write down any experiences, funny or otherwise, that you do not want to forget. These can be used as “extras” in your Scrapbook. Include friends in your photos Pick up brochures along the way at places we visit Collect ticket stubs, candy wrappers, etc. Be on the lookout for stickers and other items to enhance the look of your Scrapbook

Day One This will be a day of travel. You will be given a map to record the names of states that we travel through. Number the cities using the provided map key and trace the route from the time we leave Briarwood until our return.

Day Two We will begin with breakfast at the hotel and worship. It will be a full day of experiencing many memorials and the Smithsonian. View pictures below of the day’s explorations and related YouTube videos. We will finish our day with a PIZZA PARTY!!!

Day Four Today we have the opportunity to tour the White House, Arlington National Cemetery, and Mount Vernon. We will leave the Washington, D.C., area this evening and travel to Historic Williamsburg. The White House Mount Vernon Arlington National Cemetery

Day Five Historic Jamestown Yorktown

Day Six Today we will enjoy the day at Colonial Williamsburg and leave for home this afternoon.
