Immigration Museum The Immigration Museum is a museum primarily displaying Australia's immigration history. It is located on Flinders Street in Melbourne, Victoria, in the Old Customs House. It is famous for its most important space, the Long Room, which is a magnificent piece of Renaissance architecture. The museum was founded in 1998, and displays the cultural and scientific collections of the State of Victoria. In addition to its work on documenting immigration history, the museum also hosts various travelling exhibitions, and also provides educational programs.

The landmark I chose for this assignment was Kozminsky Jewellery which was first established in The jewellery store’s current location in Melbourne is 421 Bourke Street and has 150 years worth of history going all the way back to Kozminsky gained it’s renowned reputation back during the gold rush era where jewellers and goldsmiths had vast collections of gold which soon become the base for their businesses. In 1910, Kozminsky moved to the Block Arcade on Collins Street, which there the store was granted a Vice Royal Patronage by Lady and Lord Hopetoun and Kozminsky was soon receiving attention from the Melbourne society but the store later moved to Little Collins Street and remained their till the 1970’s. An employee at the store by the name of Kurt Albrecht, who was also the third proprietor of the business, brought expertise of gold and silver smithing which he acquired in Hamburg, Germany. Since the beginning of Kozminsky it’s status has constantly escalated and today it’s known as Australia’s premier jeweller. The store has been passed onto the second generation of the Albrecht family and the store’s evolution will continue to contribute to the Melbourne society. A sculpture Silhouette The City of Melbourne sponsors artwork and street art such as the sculpture silhouette. The city of Melbourne conducted a survey and found that not many people appreciated graffiti but most appreciated large statues or sculptures. Art exhibitions are all around Melbourne and some of the best pieces get voted on and are turned into large statues or sculptures that will become a permanent part of the streets of Melbourne. Some of the statues in Melbourne were designed solely for the purpose of decorating our streets. Not all of the artwork has a known artist, some of the artists wish to remain anonyms, the artist of a sculpture silhouette is one of these artists.

385 Bourke is one of Melbourne’s premier office buildings. It is classified as an A Grade building by the Property Council of Australia (PCA) guidelines.
