Results of our market research: Post and Pre-apocalyptic genres were the favourites. Prefer films with an unknown ending. Male protagonist. A hero is the most expected character to see in an apocalyptic genre film. Mystery and Suspense is what is most expected to see in the film. Multiple story lines. Apocalyptic films with a hidden message. Woods. Deserted places.

How are you targeting your audience? Our target age group is from However the film would be suitable for anyone over the age of 15 to watch although it would be unlikely that an older age range between would watch an apocalyptic thriller. 15 year olds + would be excited that there is a mystery character and white light Older age range would like the fact that the film makes them think e.g. mystery character, disappearance of the human race and the plot itself.

Plot Everything is normal in normal day life before something strange occurs and existence as we know it becomes extinct apart from one man. However all is not as it seems when he notices that in the entire world there is one other life form left on the planet. He makes the decision to find out who and where this mystery being is and why only him and this being have survived whatever happened. Is the mystery man behind the disappearance of the human race?

Macro Decisions Macro Ideas: These are the ‘big ideas’ of the media project. Marco ideas usually involve things such as; the USP along with the morals and messages a media text is trying/supposed to communicate to the audience. Another of the macro ideas which we targeted first was the USP, we feel this is captured strongly from the start. My group and I came to the decision that our unusual genre of an Apocalyptic Thriller, is what we can convey as our USP. The macro ideas of morals and messages have been incorporated into our apocalyptic genre film. Our film project can be related to real life disasters due to the genre od which we have chosen. From this my group and I decided upon many different morals and messages which our film genre and plot of our project can convey to the audience and to enable them to think about the significance of life itself.

Micro Decisions These are the ‘little ideas’ which go towards the making of a media project. These ideas also go into forming the bigger macro decisions. Micro ideas include: Casting Lighting Script Costume Accents Camera angles/shots Settings Sound effects Music Editing Props Some examples of the micro decisions used are: Casting – For the cast of our film my group and I thought it would be best to have a limited amount of actors due to our apocalyptic genre. Therefore we came to the conclusion that all three of us would be present in the film project. We decided that Daniel, would play the main protagonist of the film. Sophie would play a friend of Daniel during the pre apocalyptic side of the genre and James will also play a friend along with playing the ‘mystery character’. Setting – The most effective setting for our apocalyptic genre was thought up as a real life effective.
