Food of Portugal

Fish like Sardines is eaten often in Portugal.

Salted cod fish called Bacalhau is a popular dish.

Portuguese recipes do not include cheese so it is eaten by itself either before or after main dishes.

The smallest, most popular rolls are crispy outside and light inside. They are called pãposecos, pronounced 'pap'sexhs.'

Many of the desserts in Portugal are made with eggs and seasoned with spices such as cinnamon and vanilla like Pastéis de Nata.

A popular dessert is the arroz doce, a rice pudding flavored with cinnamon and lemon.

Malassadas are balls of fried dough coated with sugar.
