Of course we'd love to be able to greet you personally in our Museum! But even if you are on the opposite side of the globe, you can still visit the Anne Frank House. “ ”

Wander around the furnished rooms. See where Anne Frank wrote her diary and listen to the stories of those who lived there. Even better take an audio tour! You can visit as many times as you want. We hope that you find it an interesting and moving experience. Visit rooms that are not open to the public. “ ”

Investigate the story 1 “ Imagine you are a journalist reporting about the story of Anne Frank, her family, friends and helpers. 1/2 ‣ Tell the story The next slide will help you compile your report ‣ ” ASSIGNMENT

Follow these steps to help you build up your story: Watch the introduction to the Secret Annex Online. Describe what really happened. Use information from the sections: Who is who, About the house and The outcome from the menu to help you find answers to the following: Who? Where? When? Why? What? Go into the Secret Annex hiding place and describe to readers what it was really like. What is the evidence – how do we know ? ‣ ‣ ‣ ‣ “ ” Think of a suitable headline. Be concise in your article no more than 250 words including the headline!! 2/2 “ ” 1 ASSIGNMENT

The object tells the story 2 “ Choose an object/artifact from one of the rooms in the Secret Annex Online which you think is an important object in the story and describe this to your class. ‣ Tell the story 2 The next slide will help you with this assignment ‣ ” 1/2 ASSIGNMENT

2 Visit the Secret Annex Online, tour the rooms and choose your object. What is your object/artifact? {Keep this to yourself!!} Describe it. Size, texture, material, weight? Where did you find it? What was it used for? Who did it belong to/who used it? Why was it important for this person? What does it tell you about the person? Now write a story from the object’s point of view. {Don’t reveal what the object is!!} The object can describe where it can be found, who it belonged to etc. Read your description to the other groups and have them guess which object it is. If nobody guesses correctly – show them where it can be found on the Secret Annex Online site. If the other groups guess correctly ask them to tell you where the object can be found. {Just to check let them show you!!} ‣ ‣ ‣ ‣ ‣ ‣ ‣ 2/2 ASSIGNMENT

3 “ Your turn to be a guide in the Anne Frank House Museum. ‣ Get acquainted with the building and the story and put together your own guided tour. The next slide will help you with this assignment ‣ ” Navigate the Secret Annex Online and use your knowledge 1/3 ASSIGNMENT

3 Who are you going to guide round the museum? – your parents, grandparents, other family members or friends. Write a short introduction to the story and introduce the main characters. The sections: Who is who, About the house and The outcome will help you. Where you are going to start? {Inside or outside the museum!!} Which rooms do you want to show and what do you want to say in these rooms? Which objects/artifacts are you going to tell your visitors about? ‣ ‣ ‣ ‣ ‣ Follow these steps to help you put together your guided tour: Go the next slide for some useful tips ‣ 2/3 “ ” ASSIGNMENT

3 Ask your visitors to write a comment in a guestbook. Tell your visitors to visit the Secret Annex Online if they want to find out more! Show them the site. Don’t tell your visitor too much, they will remember short interesting facts! Just like all museum guides you need to practice first! {Gather and learn your information and do a trial run!!} ASSIGNMENT “ ” 3/3

4 2/3 ASSIGNMENT Primary source documents are written records like government documents, diary entries, letters and postcards. They are one of the best ways to find out about people you’ve never met. “ ” Describe the person using the photograph. Where did you find the primary source? Describe it. Why was important / special?
