 Most of Brunelleschi’s early years were a mystery  It is known he was the second of three of three sons and his father was a distinguished notary in Florence.  He initially trained as a goldsmith and sculptor and enrolled in the Arte della Seta, the silk merchants guild.  Around the turn of the century, he was designated a master goldsmith  He then got married to his wife Giuliana Spini in 1401.

 Early in his architectural career (A.D ), Brunelleschi rediscovered the principles of linear perspective, known to ancient Greeks and Romans, but lost during the Middle Ages. italian-renaissance-architecture/

 His most famous work of architecture was the dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (the Duomo) in Florence. (1296 and 1436)  It was considered a modern piece of architecture, because of the linear perspective inside the building. anddo/2006
