The 1950s was known as the ‟nostalgic ‶ decade because looking back everything seemed simple and optimistic. America was in a post war boom after World War 2. Manufacturing was converted for peaceful usages such as the auto industries, and the T.V.. The 1950s was the hay day of manufacturing, being middle class and being able to afford mostly anything. The middle class were able to be well dressed without spending as fortune. Larson ‵ s pictures depict the New Yorkers at work and at play. Everything was beautifully built such as subways. It was the elimination in 1963 to cause Jackie Kennedy to build a movement to preserve architecture such as Grand Central Station.

Fashion 1950s After World War Two, short skirts and squared shouldered tops were no longer worn. Instead long skirts for women and rounded shouldered tops were worn. Nylon, polyester, Orlon, and Spandex were new materials that were used. Hats, gloves, and pearls were very popular since the 1950s clothing for women were very feminine looking.Poodle Skirts and Cocktail dresses were worn for evening events. New York was influenced by England which is why Teddy Boys was the new style for boys.This consisted of skinny ties and short trousers. Men wore flared jackets, long overcoats, and bowler hats.

The Rolleiflex Camera was one of the most popular cameras used in the 1950s especially for studios and professional news.
