Leadership Outline

A YEAR OF TRANSITION Characterized only by change… Said good-bye to Fr. Scott Departed from our old Campus Ministry Center Welcomed Fr. Ben as our first full-time Priest/Director Finally we entered into our new Catholic Center in 2014

REALIZATION OF NEEDS: With a new building come different types of needs Administrative Liturgical Need for growth in three key areas: Evangelization Outreach on campus Faith Formation Service Opportunities

RESULT OF REFLECTION Rethinking of our organization structure Focus our current efforts Provide for our new needs Nota Bene: Not a result of this year’s performance of any group or individual Structure has been evaluated by the staff to work with a clear intention The duties of some committees have been reevaluated and others have been reorganized as new opportunities to serve.

CATEGORIES OF LEADERSHIP POSITIONS CCM as an RSO (Registered Student Organization with Campus) Includes Executive Board and Committees Only one position can be held at a time Most developed category because it is the one we have already grown Duties particular to the Catholic Center Tied to Administrative and Liturgical duties of the Center We will be developing this area of leadership more as we grow into the space Peer Leadership Opportunities Both these and Catholic Center positions may be held in conjunction with an RSO position.

EXECUTIVE BOARD Made up of the elected officers of Catholic Campus Ministry as a Registered Student Organization at UCF. Purpose: To lead and support Catholic Campus Ministry’s outreach onto the UCF Campus. Responsibilities: Maintain an official relationship with UCF via its RSO status. Spearhead the outreach onto the UCF campus through various evangelization opportunities. (Welcome week events, weekly tabling, New Student “dorm” visits) Plan and host weekly Knight Fires Responsibilities particular to each office can be found in the office descriptions. What has changed: A greater focus on outreach rather than the inner workings of the ministry as a whole. While the E-Board will still be an important point of contact for committees in reference to schedule planning, especially when it comes to space on campus, committees will no longer “report” to the E-Board, they will each have a staff member to plan with.

COMMITTEES The following committees are headed up by two “co-chairs” that will be responsible for planning with their staff advisor and will be required to attend the monthly general meeting.

INTRAMURAL SPORTS Purpose: An informal outreach arm of the ministry. Sports is what this committee does but with an eye to both witnessing to other teams through good sportsmanship and by building relationships between the players on our various teams. Responsibilities Organize & recruit players for CCM IM Sport teams throughout the semesters Organize tailgate parties with Social Committee for at least two UCF football games during Fall Work to encourage CCM Members to come out and support CCM IM Sport games Keep their staff advisor informed about what sports we are participating in and when the games are so we can promote this to the rest of the community.

SERVICE Purpose: Work with the staff to ensure that CCM is constantly reaching out to the surrounding community as a witness to Christian charity. Responsibilities Coordinates service projects throughout both semesters (at least one per month, this number may increase and will include collaborative efforts with local service and outreach organizations) Foster a working relationship with local community outreaches and communicate service opportunities to the larger community. (Catholic Charities, Diocesan Office of Advocacy and Justice, etc.) Promote educational opportunities that inspire and promote service, especially social justice. What has changed: A greater emphasis on education and collaboration with local community efforts.

PRO-LIFE CHAIR Purpose: Provide a witness to the Gospel of Life by promoting the Pro-Life message on campus and through prayerful witness. Responsibilities: Plan at least one Pro-Life speaker event on campus. Inform the community about local Pro-Life events. Assist Staff Adviser in planning March for Life trip. Organize opportunities to spread the Gospel of Life by the witness of prayer (Praying at Abortion clinic, silent witnessing, etc.)

SOCIAL Purpose: To provide social opportunities that facilitate fellowship and build community among new and returning members. Plans social events throughout both semesters (at least one every month) Plans Halloween Party, and Semi-formal/end of the year party Organize tailgates with Intramural Sports Committee for at least two UCF football games during Fall.

REORGANIZED COMMITTEES Responsibilities for the following committees will be expressed differently: Liturgy/Worship Hospitality Bible Study Music Worship – expanded into positions under the Catholic Center Hospitality – Split in two (on campus tasks to E-Board, Mass Greeting to new position) Bible Studies – Same basic structure but no need to go to General Meetings Music – Duties focused onto Liturgical Music, no need to attend General Meetings

CATHOLIC CENTER POSITIONS These positions are more focused on the day to day running of the Catholic Center and not geared exclusively to campus outreach.

LITURGICAL MINISTRIES These leaders will be responsible for working with Father to coordinate schedules for each ministry as well as culling volunteers to serve in these ministries. There will be a Liturgical Ministries meeting once a month to discuss issues concerning these ministries. Head Sacristan Head Reader Head Server Head Extraordinary Minister Head Greeter/Usher

LITURGICAL MINISTRIES (CONT) Music Assistant Meets with Music Director weekly to prepare for each week’s Liturgy. Organizing/recruiting students to participate in Sunday Mass music Organizing students to help with Holy Day & Faculty Masses Administrative work (copy music sheets, etc.) Creates Slides for Sunday Masses and Holy Days

ADMINISTRATIVE STEWARDS Media Stewards Meet weekly(?) with staff advisor to discuss media and promotional items and ensure proper branding on CCM media efforts. Bulletin Steward Assists staff or volunteer with the weekly production of a bulletin. Digital Media Steward Assists with the posting of content on the website, Facebook, and other digital media outlets. Promotional Steward Develop flyers for distribution at Northview and on Campus.

ADMINISTRATIVE STEWARDS Student Volunteer Coordinator Coordinates a schedule for student volunteers at the reception desk. Student Volunteers Serves at the front desk for a minimum of 1 hour a week.

PEER LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES Positions can be held in conjunction with any of the above mentioned positions. Bible Study Leaders – Run weekly Bible Studies on campus or in the Catholic Center based upon provided material. Retreat Team – Includes Directors, Producers, and Small Group Leaders on retreats. Other Positions will be added to this category as they arise.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED? E-Board remains an elected body per SGA rules. Nominations begin tonight with elections on April 2. Committee Chairs are appointed by the staff but consideration will be given to those who show interest and input from standing chairs. Volunteers for the new positions will be considered and confirmed by the staff. Please take home the thorough description of each position you are interested in, these descriptions will be available on our website under “Contact Us – Student Leaders”.
