Family Tree Project Let’s get started…..

What is a family tree? a diagram showing the relationships between people in several generations of a family; a genealogical tree.

Here’s an example

What does it include? You - along with your sisters and brothers Your parents’ families - their sisters and brothers Your grandparents - their sisters and brothers a photo of each person a paragraph that tells an interesting story about them a title : eg. The Messer Family Tree

Why do we make family trees? We want to know more about the members of our family. We want to investigate the important stories of the people closest to us.

What’s the best way to find out information about your family?

ASK THEM!! Asking good questions to find out the interesting stories is at the HEART of this project.

Your job is to become: A Researcher A Reporter A Manager

As a Researcher: you will be developing and choosing some great questions to ask your family members you will be interviewing each member to uncover some interesting life stories

As a Reporter: you will choose the most interesting information to include in a short memoir for each family member you will write a paragraph that clearly tells the story you will use criteria to make it your best

As a Manager: you will use your time wisely both for homework responsibilities and in class. you will respect our timeline to get the project finished by completing each step on time you will present your best work in the final project using our criteria

Mrs Landahl and Mrs Messer are excited to help you to do your very best work and can’t wait to see your final project!

Good Luck!! GOOD LUCK!
