Early Life Born on September 14, 1849 in Ryazan, Russia Oldest of 10 children His father was the village priest His mother was the daughter of a priest

Education First attended the Ryazan Ecclesiastical High School to be a priest Inspired by Charles Darwin's The Origin of the Species Enrolled at the University of Saint Petersburg Got the degree of Candidate of Natural Sciences Proceeded to the Academy of Medical Surgery where he received his doctorate

Field of Research Contributed to the field of Psychology, however he was not a Psychologist Had a major influence on both the fields of Behaviorism and the Learning Theory Originally a natural scientist, Pavlov accidentally stumbled upon his theory of Classical Conditioning, pushing him into the field of Psychology.
