GEOGRAPHY Cambodia is bounded on the northeast by Laos, on the east and southeast by Vietnam, on the west and northwest by Thailand, and on the southwest by the Gulf of Thailand. Area: 181,035 sq.km, slightly smaller than Oklahoma. Land boundaries: 2,572km (Laos 541km, Thailand 803km and Vietnam 1,228km) and coastline: 443km. Cambodia has a tropical monsoon climate; a land of paddies and forests dominated by the Mekong River and Tonle Sap. Administrative Divisions: 20 Provinces and 4 Municipalities.

Branches: Executive (five-year term elections), Bicameral Legislative (National Assembly:123 seats and Senate: 61seats) and Judicial. Political parties: CPP+FUNCINPEC ( CPP 73, FUNCINPEC 26, and SRP 24): SRP (Opposition)
