Interesting Facts Bolivia declared its independence from Spain on August 6 th Population is estimated 10,907,778. Common Ethnic groups are Amerindian Quechua, Aymara.

Government Structure Bolivia is a socialist government It’s president is Evo Morales

Economics the currency of Bolivia is known as the Boliviano (BOB). That would be 7 USD.

Customs Most Bolivians are born into Roman Catholicism. The handshake is the most common form of greeting. Eye contact is important. Gifts are usually given at birthdays, Christmas and New Year. The general rule is by good quality but price is not too important.

Languages The most common language in Bolivia is Spanish. Some common phrases being Hola (hello), Cómo estás? (how are you?), and amigo (friend).

Education The schools are not maintained, and many don’t have adequate furnishings or classroom materials There are many other types of schools in Bolivia including trade and vocational schools

Military The branches of the Bolivian military include o Army (Ejercito Boliviano) o Navy (Fuerza Naval Boliviana, includes Marines) o Air Force (Fuerza Aérea Boliviana) o National Police Force (Policia Nacional de Bolivia) 18 years of age, compulsory draft for one year. o (An estimated 40% of the armed forces under 18 – many voluntarily register.)
